Evening in Breckenridge Day 5, 6/24/17

Friday, 6/24/17, Breckenridge, Colorado. On a warm afternoon cooling into an alpine evening with hints of approaching chill the main street is alive with colorful clots of moving people.  Breckenridge, a mining and timber town begun in the 1980's  lives now in it's identity as a mountain destination resort with activities for all ages, the perfect place to wear that new Patagonia jacket.  The old buildings have put on new faces and the new buildings are faced with weathered barn-wood to create a Swiss Alps/old mountain mining town/New Age Ski Town atmosphere.

The walkers and shoppers, in groups, pairs and singles roam freely on the the sidewalks and into the street,  Vehicle traffic crawls, for the pedestrian is king and need take no heed of intersections or signals.  We did manage to find parking and had a lovely dinner with friends at the Quandary Grille.  During the hours we spent at the restaurant, the town went to bed and we drove back to our campsite through darkened streets with a few twinkling bar signs to light the way.
