Trip Pre-Run - Family Campout June 16-17, 2017 Prosser Family Campground
We just got off of a trial run up at Prosser Family Campground. A 2 day Father's Day Celebration with Melody Mann, Nicole & Michael, Montana & Uriah and Cohen and Joye Mitchell. Lots of good food and a couple of good hikes.
We checked out the Kyburz Flat Interpretive Trail on Saturday morning. Cohen made a 2 mile hike! Interesting to see that what looks like just a mountain meadow was also the home to a "hotel" along the Emigrant Trail, Petroglyphs from Washoe Indian tribe ancestors (2000 year old), and a sheep camp established by Basque shepherds. Interesting and educational morning.
On Sunday morning Melody, Uriah and I got up early and hiked out to Sagehen meadow along the southern side of the river. Nice, not too many people know about it apparently. There was huge traffic on the northern side (we could see it) but we met no one in our 2 hour hike.
Tomorrow we set off for the Midwest!
