Another Lazy Day 2-25-18
This morning I skipped the normal church and ended up at the church of the laundry.
Still kinda cool here but warmed up a bit.
After laundry I came back to the trailer and changed into one of my new outfits and Russ and I set out for our appointed lunch date with Mike Barna. We arranged to meet 1/2 way between where he lives in Scottsdale and where we are located in Buckeye. That place turned out to be at a restaurant named "Bobby Q" in Phoenix. We arrived in the parking lot at the same time and even though I haven't seen Mike in a few years I recognized him immediately.
Mike Barna, like us, used to live in Truckee. He was the manager at the good old family restaurant called "OB's Pub." He was also an avid runner and when I got to know him it was during the years when I would go running at the new rec department indoor track where he worked part time. I credit Mike with inspiring me to keep up my running aspirations. In fact, he helped me through my first 5k, 1k and 1/2 marathon with training plans and encouragement. Mike reminded me of the great friendships all of us had formed at 7 am every morning at the track. Mike looks great. Through a circuitous route, he has wound up here in Scottsdale and he says he will go back to Truckee when the weather gets hot. Hope to see him again this summer!!!
Tonight we are hoping to get to see the closing ceremonies for the Olympics. We haven't managed to see any of the events but it is possible that the TV in the rec center here at the Leaf Verde RV park may have the closing ceremonies on. We will walk over there around 6 pm and see.
Tomorrow we move on to Tucson to see our friends Jan and Craig. This is where we will be parting ways -- temporarily -- with Pat and Steve who don't want to go that far east. Hopefully, if all goes well, we will re-join them in San Felipe in about 10 days.

No, that car does not belong to either of us but I thought it made a great backdrop for a couple of codgers.
