Big Breakfast and more Shopping -- Fat Tuesday, 2-13-18

Now That's a Clam Dinner!

The Malecon on a cloudy day

We hit up Lucky's Cantina this morning for the advertised "free" breakfast.  Wow, all we had to do is pay $5 each for a drink -- Coffee, bloody mary, red beer -- anything.  Then we get this huge 3 egg breakfast with beans, potatoes, tortillas, sausage and bacon.  Amazingly it was as good as it gets for $5 each.

Afterwards we went back to Nicholas' jewelry store and purchased a nice sterling silver set of earrings.

The people here, as in San Felipe, are so helpful.  We had been trying to locate the Catholic Church so that we could attend Ash Wednesday services and get our ashes but the internet and cell service are so poopy that I couldn't get any info off of it.  So we asked this guy on the street and he pointed to where the church is.  We went up there and sure enough there was another person who knew the answers to our questions.  So tomorrow at high noon, we will be ashed!!

Since it is Fat Tuesday, we decided that we deserved extra treats so we stopped at a corner Thrifty Ice Cream store (best ice cream ever in my opinion) and fattened ourselves up!

Then onto more shopping, this time food stuff for our trailers at the local Ley store.  Interesting observation -- we get so used to how the stores are laid out in our hometown, and, pretty much all over the USA, it is surprising how long it takes you to fill a simple shopping list in a Mexican supermarket -- things just aren't where we are used to finding them.  When in Rome!

Tonight a simple hamburger helper dinner and early to bed.  Another big day awaits us tomorrow!!

Oh, did I mention that I got in 3 miles this morning and the wind finally died down about 10:00 am.  Thank God!  I think we are expecting rain tomorrow.
