Windy day at the Beach February 12, 2018 Puerto Penasco
I woke up last night about 10:45 hearing a tapping on the trailer. The wind had picked up and the little vent cover that vents the stove exhaust was loose and driving me nuts. That remedied, I went back to sleep to awake this morning to a howling gale. No rain but tons of wind and the Sea of Cortez is whipping itself into a frenzy.
We are going to venture into town and see what it is all about. Hopefully some fun shopping and maybe some lunch.
Back at you with pictures and a report. I am finding that the internet and the phone service here is miserable. This is becoming quite a chore.
There is just no good service here so I will have to wait before I upload photos. Sorry.
We scouted out the malecon this morning. It is much bigger that San Felipe. The port is full of fishing trawlers -- again, much bigger than San Felipe. We found lots of vendors and one in particular whose name is Nicholas, had the best -- by far jewelry store I have ever seen in MX. His display cases were immaculate and all of the silver polished. He said that he would start at one end and by the time he was finished, it was time to start over. I can see why. Even though his shop is buried and off the street, the wind is flowing sand constantly.
After poking around for a couple of hours we asked the guys to find us a place for lunch. Steve suggested this restaurant that is perched on a pier over the sea. "The Pointe," was excellent. The views and food and especially the $5 margarita. Right now, we are giving it a 10 on a scale of 1-10. Boy, one of those and you are set.
Clams for dinner and off to bed. Nighty nite!
