Happy Pi Day in Yuma. March 14, 2019 & Window shade HELL

Missed posting yesterday.  Not much to say and besides, Facebook and Instagram had their problems so I decided to take a day off.  Actually, we did move from the middle of the desert to an RV park in Yuma along the Colorado River.  You would never recognize this river as the same one that people ride recklessly in rafts on, but it is in fact the same one.  The RV park had the necessary facilities -- electricity, water, a sewer dump and a laundry so we decided to stay 2 nights.  We also have good friends that winter here.

This morning I was up and out the door on a 3 mile run.  No place picturesque like the last few times, just up and down the road within the RV park.  Afterwards I took our dirty laundry over to the laundromat where they charge an arm and a leg to use their decrepit machines.  Captive audience you know.  Russ said that the reason they use tokens is that kids used to break into laundromats and steal the coins out of the machine boxes.  Personally, I think they use the token system so that they can control how much it costs for a load.  Right now, the going rate in this ripoff park is $2.50 for a wash and $2.50 for a dry.

After laundry was done, we headed out to see the "Arizona Marketplace." This had been recommended by our friends.  The best way I can describe it is that it is a giant flea market.  Lots of interesting stuff and we came away with a couple of purchases but not the ones we were looking for.  Typical.

Afterwards we visited the Historic Territorial Prison Museum here in Yuma.  The place was the only Territorial Prison in Arizona for 33 years:  1876 - 1909.  Here there were many "Cowboys", laborers, farmers and incorrigibles incarcerated.  The museum was really interesting and I have to say, this was the first time I personally had ever been in a prison.

Check it out:  These are the cells that the criminals lived in and the actual bunks they slept on!

We ran a few more errands, filled up the truck with diesel ($2.79 gal) and filled up my stash of cheap wine then hustled back to visit briefly with our good friends Bob and Suzie -- one more glass of wine, one more hug and hopefully we will get to see them in Reno on their trip north to their summer home in Brookings, OR.

The rest of the evening was spent basically trying to re-attach the window shade to the window in our trailer.  What a piece of work . . .

Tomorrow onto some dry camping at the Petroglyph Campground near the Signal Mountain Wilderness.
