Ides of March at Painted Rock BLM - Petroglyphs March 15, 2019

Wow.  So thankful for the hotspot on my phone.  Surprised that there are many in my generation who don't know about it -- if you don't, let me know and I will share.  Internet just about everywhere.

We left civilization (Yuma) this morning and traveled east on Interstate 8, arriving at this beautiful place, in the middle of the desert.  We have been here been here before and it is magical.  Obviously the Native Americans thought to too since there is a ton of graffiti  on the rocks left by them, again with no cipher to help translate.  I'll get some pictures tomorrow, promise!

When we got here Russ noted the sounds of a fiddle.  He followed the scent and ended up at the campsite of some folks from Maryland who like to play -- "Appalachian" music.  Well Russ had his guitar along so he joined in for an hour or so and really enjoyed it.  We are now playing a Pandora station entitled "Appalachian Music."  Not too sure of the difference between that and Bluegrass but they are both are tons of fun!  Check it out next time you are looking for a new genre to run to.

Our campsite here includes picnic table, firepit and totally level spot.   There is no water, electricity but there are pit toilets and the petroglyphs!  All of this for $4 a night (that is 1/2 the regular super great price of $8 because of the Senior Pass).

Our Campsite.

Sunset - Beautiful

We leave tomorrow for our campsite at Picacho State Park here in AZ and have been advised that it is a super bloom there.  We will be visiting our good old friends who live in Tucson.  I will catch up when I can!
