Valley of Fire - Nevada State Park - Day 2, March 6, 2019
OMG this place is beautiful!! Wait til you see it! Sorry no cell coverage,
so you have to wait. Okay, look down below and take a peek.
We broke camp this morning and drove through rain and wind. At times it was even impossible to see too
far ahead of us. Big country. Not much else I can say about south central
NV except there is a whole lot of nothing out there.
As we neared Las Vegas however, the signs of civilization
were overwhelming. Tons of housing tracts,
one after another of the same house, tons of warehouses, one after another
appeared. Of course we managed to make
the wrong turn to the wilderness and had to go through population center.
Arrived at the Valley of Fire State Park around 1pm. We were hoping to find a campsite that had an
electrical hookup but, alas, they were all gone. I found out later from a happy camper that
you have to be here by 8 am to have a prayer.
In any event we found a dry camping spot that is simply awesome and I
think we will live. We are tucked in,
surrounded by red rock which is just plain indescribable -- promise
to show you tomorrow. Here it is as promised!
Checked out the visitor center this afternoon and have a
plan laid out for tomorrow.
All of this already for the price of an annual senior pass already: $30.
AMAZING.
