Here's to a whole lot of nothing and Nick! 3/3/18

Shall I get Nick out of the way first?  Nick is the Camp Host here.  He greeted us upon arrival in this campground.  You understand that after our arrival,  this is all we thought we would see at the park:

But no, Nick drove up on his quad with his puppy Jezebele (a big Chesapeake Bay Retriever -- way overweight but no judgement here), within 30 minutes of our arrival.  Nick is from Idaho most recently but his job is working for a company that contracts to take care of USFS park campgrounds.  One of the things that we have noticed is that there is ALWAYS a Camp Host somewhere in these campgrounds.  Nick is a character and possibly starved for human interaction.  He engaged us on so many levels that first day.  He could relate to just about everywhere we have been.  He is a fisherman, hunter, handicapped, (why he has the quad) and an overall exuberant communicator.  Kind of reminded me of Buck Ravenscroft. That is where the similarity ends.  This fellow had an accent that although not confirmed, sounded as if it came from Oklahoma or Texas.  His teeth were fascinating  I couldn't keep my eyes off of them.  Not that they were poor, or dirty or anything derogatory, they were just fascinating -- maybe just they way they fit in his mouth.  No picture, never would.

Anyways, we never did find out about his handicap.  He didn't offer and we didn't ask because he is one of those people who, if encouraged, will come to dinner and stay all night.  I don't think he is married.  I see him cleaning the bathrooms with Jezebel and that is about it.  Kinda think he must be lonely.  Reminds me, we need to be more patient and  open to others. By the way, the campground did get a bit populated last night.  It is close to the boat ramp and there are quite a few sites that are occupied by tenters.  Perfect weather for fishing or boating here right now.  Hopefully some of them stopped a bit and talked with Nick.  Nice guy.  Share the load. Everybody needs a friend.

Enough about that.   Today we did a whole lot of nothing.  I cleaned and mopped the trailer on the inside -- inspired by my friend Pat Grover who did it yesterday in San Felipe.  Russ fixed the wall in the trailer that somehow didn't get anchored down when it was built and he fixed the big-ass chip that we picked up a couple of days ago in our truck windshield.

Here are a couple pictures I took -- nothing special.  Just to let you know I am still here!

These are the best spots and there is NEVER anyone in any of them.

It is a long way off but if you can zoom in, you can see that these mine tailings from an asbestos mine are why locals call it the "Angel Wings" mine.  Check it out.

It's been a lot of work doing this blog these past few days but worth it for the solitude.  Hope to have a better connection in the next few days.  On towards Yuma!!

Nitey Nite!
