Laying Low. Day 46, August 6, 2017

Yes, a complete success!!  Funny how exhausted I am even though the whole thing was not much work.  I guess it was emotional and I was worried it would all come off.   Kerry and David Kramer were sorely missed.  I am so sorry they couldn't make it.

So today was a lay low day.  I didn't do laundry, I didn't make attempts to contact anyone, I just went for an awesome run down the river road -- my last good look at Algonac.

See the towels and swim suits hanging out to dry?  This is PURE MICHIGAN

Afterwards we went for a good old midwest breakfast at Big Boy in Marine City.  Remember this guy:

While running along the road I saw a place called "The Big River Grille."  It looked so familiar to me and I finally remembered it as "Sid's by the Seaway."  I never could figure out why they called it "By the Seaway" since the body of water it was next to was actually a river.  Well, just across the street from it is a tiny, tidy mobile home court called  "Seaway Trailer Court."  Sure enough, that's why Sid got his Seaway name.

After a day of recovery we decided to treat ourselves to a movie in Marine City, MI.  This theatre reminded me of the old Truckee Theatre except they actually had 3  screens.  We saw "Dunkirk."  An interesting and rather depressing movie.  I did like it though, not really sure why.  I think I need to do some research on that battle and situation.  War is awful.  No matter what.

I found out that my visiting family managed to borrow a nice sailboat and get out on Lake St. Clair.  So glad they made the best of another day together.

Looks like they know what they are doing, right?  Well they do!

While in the theatre I got a text from my cousin Johnny asking if we could meet for dinner.  Yes, I said.  I relish the opportunity to be with family one more time.  So guess where we ended up?  "Big River Grille" AKA "Sid's by the Seaway."  David and Kate, Russ and John and I enjoyed huge plates of yellow belly perch.  Jeez, I had totally forgotten how good that stuff is.  Can't compare it to anything in the west -- not trout, for sure.  Yum.

Tomorrow we skedaddle at the break of dawn.  Off to get our window fixed finally!!!
