Making Tracks towards Home, Day 60, August 20, 2017

Tomorrow's the eclipse, right.  I am totally unprepared.  No glasses, no box with a pin hole in it.  Nothing. Hopefully Russ can come up with something tonight and hopefully the sky will be clear tomorrow in Little Falls, MN which is where we are camped.  Did you know that this is where Charles Lindberg is from?  Neither did I.  Not really up on that part of my American History.

I was a little slow this morning due to the massive quantity of Pinot Grigio that Emily and I consumed yesterday.  But no excuses, we were up and out of the campground before 9 am.  I even participated in the driving the rig through (or around) Minneapolis.  Punishment for overserving myself last night.  Only twice on this trip.  Could have been a lot worse.

We found this military campground on the Allstays App and since Russ is retired military we are allowed to use it.  $17 per night for an absolutely beautiful campground right on the Mississippi River.  Tomorrow I will battle the Minnesota state bird (mosquito) and take a run on the path along the river.

Russ is making biscuits in our oven right now and we will have sloppy joe's over them for dinner tonight.  It is a quiet evening and there are only a few folks in the park.

On a sad note, I heard from my college girlfriend that her husband passed away last night at
midnight.  Melanoma.  Cancer.  The last time I saw Don he was, as always, a vital, handsome and wonderful guy.  He put up a valiant effort I know and tonight I am thinking of his wife Anne and his children and grandchildren and feeling so bad for them and how much of a hole he has left in their lives.  I do know this though, he will ALWAYS be with them.
