Party Day at Last!! Day 44, August 4, 2017
A year after I conceived of this project, the day has finally come. Guess what? It dawned overcast and rainy!!! Can always count on not counting on the weather in Michigan!
Fortunately I got out this morning before the showers hit. Had to clear the system of a little alcohol residue so I did 3 miles on the bike path at the park where I met up with 2 does and about 8 bunnies. The does looked at me like "what the hell is that?"
Because Chuck's arrival at our campsite did not occur until 8 am, Russ and let him sleep on our bed, attempting to keep quiet. Foiled on that plan by the rest of my family who decided this morning would be a good time to come and see Russ and Kappy's trailer. That would have been fine but the skies opened up and the rain hit. Chuck didn't stand a chance with the sleep what with 7 of us in the trailer keeping dry.
Around noon Russ and I went to collect chow for tomorrow's picnic. Then it was time to get it together for the party tonight.
We had a simply awesome time. Everyone was there. We had about 34 for dinner including 4 of my Dad's great grandchildren. The only ones missing besides my Sister Nancy and Mother (both passed away) were Kerry (lives in Mexico City) and David. Corrie won the prize for having travelled the furthest -- she came all the way from Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. I am so honored to think she made such an effort to be with us. I didn't hear one argument break out, we were all on our best behavior. The party adjourned to the hotel around 9pm. Fortunately, I escaped to my trailer in Algonac. I fear I would NOT be feeling too good right now, otherwise. I saw a post on FB from last night at 11:34pm and the young-uns were still going at it.
Thanks everyone for making Dad's B-day party and Kramer Family Reunion such a success. The staff at Gowanie was superb. They treat my Dad like the king he is!! Oldest member of the club too.
