Things are going along too well . . . August 7, 2017, Day 47
This morning we packed up real early and managed to get out of Algonac State Park by 8:35 am. We were the first in line for dumping!! Here is a picture of Russ and Ceilidh coming back from early morning duty by the river.
Don't know that I will ever get back to this place. Just want to bookmark it for all the memories it has given me throughout my life.
Next stop, Flint, Michigan. Didn't see any trace of the defiled water nor the blighted city that you see in the news reports. I have never been there and it looks kinda like any other city in the US. A rich side and a poor side and a middle class side. Don't get me wrong, I know there was some criminal activity done to these citizens by the folks they paid to take care of them but, this could happen everywhere and the fact that Flint, MI is branded with this story forever makes it seem like a third world country. It is not. The reason we had to go there was to get the window in our Lance trailer replaced. -- remember that? Yes, it has been a long time with that taped up window and we were certain that it was going to be a horrible hassle getting this thing done BUT it was a 2 hour project and look -- it is perfect!!

It's the little things, you know. Now I will be able to see the stars at night. Can't wait!!
The glass guy finished the long awaited window project just in time for Russ to pick me up at the Laundromat -- wish I had a picture. It was the biggest laundromat I have ever been in. There were actually two men working to help the customers AND keep the place clean. Very efficient.
So done with all of that, we headed up past the thumb in the Mitty and ended up at another state park campground: Tawas Point on Lake Huron. Here we get electric service and some nice showers for $29 per night. These campgrounds in the east are expensive, and I might add, a bit crowded. Where do these people come from? But it's okay, we are on a downhill run. I cannot even believe we have less than a month before we get home. Time is going fast now.
Our campsite at Tawas Point
There is a lighthouse here. I will take a run past it in the morning. Beautiful evening. You all be good now!
