Big Ass Rainstorm Day 19, July 7, 2017
Gathered up our stuff and broke camp this morning at 9:15
am. We are going back to the Bighorn
Mountains to spend a couple of nights before striking out for Deadwood SD where
we have hookups for 3 nights. Back in
service and we got needed information from family and creditors. Russ spent 45 minutes finding out that he had a second Cabella’s credit card
(he had cancelled the only one he thought he had back in March when there was
suspicious activity). See how difficult
it is to be retired? Thank heavens for
coming into cell service every so often.
Arriving back in the Bighorn Mountain area, we began the
difficult task of seeking out a campground on a Friday afternoon. After our third attempt, we hit pay dirt at USFS
Tongue River Campground -- $8 per night with senior card. This place looked full too but we found a
space that some campers had vacated this morning, apparently changing their minds
and getting their money back – headed back to who-knows-where. Right between the restroom and raging Tongue
River. Beautiful BUT a haven for
mosquitos – my deadly enemies.
Well we no sooner got set up and we were hit with an awesome
thunderstorm. This one was long and
included hail. Ceilidh was so frightened
she hid herself in the corner of the bedroom.
The storm subsided and all is beautiful – except the mosquitos. We took a walk before dinner for Ceilidh’s constitutional
requirements and were driven back inside by those voracious insects. So here we are. Tomorrow we are off to the Medicine Wheel and
a little hike. Promise pictures when I
get back on line.
