What I did on my Summer Vacation. Day 27, July 16, 2017
Yep, I finally did it! I got to the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota!! Interesting place. It is really an event venue. Apparently this is the 3rd rendition of the place. This is a picture of the first build. It was too small so they kept building a new one until they got the current one. They have all kinds of events here including concerts by people like Willie Nelson. The art on the walls inside the palace is made of corn cobs and it is pretty astounding.
We got there early so we had the place just as it opened. Met a French Family from Marseilles, I said where is that, in southern France? they said Europe . . . think we had a language problem? You know me, I just kept talking to them a little slower, a little louder. Turns out they landed in Chicago and are traveling by car to Los Angeles. Can't remember where they are going next but part of their itinerary is Las Vegas. Poohey. I told them that they were missing the whole point if they went there instead of Reno - Tahoe. Don't think they got it. Oh well.

Gotta Love this Guy!
A Picture of the Original Corn Palace
Some Family (Uriah & Uriel) settled here?
So after our foray to the Palace, we did a run to Walmart, got gas and holed up for the afternoon -- too hot out there. Will leave tomorrow for Pipestone National Monument and a new state Minnesota!!
Check out the gas price here in South Dakota!
