Wisconsin -- It really is a whole new world! Day 33, July 23, 2017

Broke camp this morning in the never ending and interminable rain, or I should say, almost rain.  None of us, including Ceilidh were sorry to go.  I can't even begin to count how many bites I have.  It is a sorry thing to have to remember a place -- a state -- by remembering it gave you the most bites of any place you have ever been.  Anyways, we headed down through Duluth and crossed the bridge into a new state for me:  Wisconsin.

At first it was sort of like Minnesota, but not for long.   Even the skies cleared a bit. An interesting thing I noted was that here, in rural Wisconsin, there seemed to be a "bar" or "tavern" on every intersection.  Each of these drinking establishments had either a "Pabst" or "Schlitz" lighted sign advertising their existence. We arrived at our reserved campground in Balsam Lake, WI and guess what was located at the entrance?  You got it.  A Bar!!  We registered inside the bar (no I didn't stay for a drink) and all of the patrons appeared to be my age (69) or older.  What another slice of life.  I don't want to cast aspersions about Wisconsinites but they seem to relish their drinking habits while Minnesotans seem to hide them or at least make them more difficult to get to.

No rain here.  We had sausage and zucchini in honor of our new host state, played a game of Quarkle and hit the hay.

This is the only picture I got from today.  It was at a Wisconsin State Park where we paid $5 for the privilege of having a picnic lunch.  Oh and yes, we had to have a picnic in the dog picnic area (which we never did find).   Dogs were not allowed in the rest of the park, on leash or off.
