It's HOT down here. Day 23, July 12, 2017
We left the hills (that's really what they are -- Black Hills) this morning and headed down to civilization in Rapid City. The hustle, bustle of a 69,000 person town. Quite different from where we have been for 3 weeks. This place has a Safeway (apparently not the same Safeway as I have a card with because they didn't recognize me (duh). BTW if you are here in this part of the country, your Von's Card will work.
We pulled into another PassPort America campground "Three Flags RV Park and Camp" located in Black Hawk SD (real near Rapid City) where the rate was $18.50 per night with the pass. Unfortunately this park had a water meltdown today. Their well pump died and so there is no water. We will survive.
I digress.
We went to Mt. Rushmore and it was amazing! Who knew it was a Danish bred sculptor (you will see his picture below) who engineered (that is what it was) this production. What an amazing feat to have been done in 1923-1941. The whole platform was done so tastefully. When you get there they have a charge of $10 to park your car. They asked us if we were seniors and of course we are so we saved $5! Make sure your parking attendant person is as nice as ours' was.
Back down in the campground right now and ready to go nighty night. So here are some beautiful pictures that I took tonight of the colors of the midwest nights:
